Aerospace Engineer Who Codes
"Why do you code if you're an aerospace engineer?"
Why wouldn't I?
My degree taught me systems thinking, breaking problems down, understanding how things work. Those skills transfer perfectly to software.
Examples:
AeroFlow - Airfoil analysis in the browser. NACA 4 and 5-digit generation, single-point analysis, polar generation, Cp distribution. Viscous and inviscid modes. Compressibility corrections. Everything I learned in aerodynamics modules.
Quadplane Project - Led avionics team in year 3. VTOL aircraft. Ardupilot Mission Planner. Built an "iron bird" prototype to test avionics before real flight. 72.5% on the technical report.
UKSEDS Rocketry - Designed and built a rocket. 4th place out of 48 teams. Learned propulsion, stability, aerodynamic optimization.
Machine Learning - 1M+ data points from 50,000+ households. MATLAB. Linear regression and neural networks. 97% accuracy.
Engineering is building systems that work. Code is just another material.
Alhamdulillah.
